Phoenix is known for its Parks and Preserves, providing residents more than 41,000 acres of desert parks and preserves with 200 miles of trails and 182 spacious city parks. A bird, botanical, or photographer enthusiast’s dream, many of these parks offer unique botanical displays that support Phoenix’s natural wildlife. Phoenix also caters to our furry friends offering fully fenced dog parks, some with water access and training obstacles in place to really engage your pets.
There are 31 community and recreation centers for youth with classes and sports programs where kids learn, stay active, and have fun. And, when things heat up in the valley, there are 29 large community pools where thousands cool off and learn to swim each summer. Some of the more popular parks include Papago park, home to our Desert Botanical Gardens and Phoenix Zoo with several trails and scenic views. Camelback Mountain is another outdoor haven where residents enjoy hiking, rock climbing, mountain and outdoor recreation.
For those that love getting outdoors, Phoenix has a little something for everyone, year round!
